Verbs have three different tenses: the present, the past, and the future.
- Simple present tense
- Simple present tense forms of verbs tell about an action that is happening right now, or that regularly happens. They usually end in -s,-es, or have no change.
I dance in my bedroom.
She eats an apple for breakfast.
- Simple past tense
- Simple past tense forms of verbs tell about an action that already happened. Most past tense forms of verbs end in -ed. Some verbs are irregular, meaning they're spelled differently.
I danced in my bedroom. (Regular)
She ate an apple for breakfast. (Irregular)
- Simple future tense
- Simple future tense forms of verbs tell about an action that will happen. They are formed using will or shall, plus the present tense form of the verb.
I will dance in my bedroom.
She shall eat an apple for breakfast.
