- Connections
- In a passage, the author often shows how the ideas in sentences and paragraphs connect to each other.
Here are some ways ideas can connect in a text:
Comparison - What is the same between the ideas? What is different?
Cause/Effect – What caused the event or idea in the text to happen?
Sequence – What happened first, second, etc.?
When you read, ask yourself how the ideas in the text connect to each other. Do they show a cause and effect, a comparison, or a sequence?
