Sometimes when you learn something new, you have to learn new words, too. These new words help you understand the topic better. Some informational passages have words with technical meanings. These words are specific to a topic or a subject and have specific meaning.
When you read, try to find the words that are new to you, or that you know are important to the topic or subject. Sometimes, these words will be in bold. Use context clues or a dictionary or glossary to help you figure out what the words mean.
