A percent is one part of a whole divided into 100 equal pieces.

A percent can be represented by a grid model,
a fraction circle, a fraction strip, or a number line.

The grid is divided into 100 equal pieces, and 45 pieces are shaded. So, the grid represents 45%.	The fraction strip is divided into 3 equal pieces, and 1 piece is shaded. 1 out of 3 pieces is the same as $33 \frac{1}{3}$ out of 100 pieces. So, the fraction strip represents $33 \frac{1}{3} %$ .
The fraction circle is divided into 4 equal pieces, and 3 pieces are shaded. 3 out of 4 pieces is the same as 75 out of 100 pieces. So, the fraction circle represents 75%.	On the number line, the distance from 0% to 100% is divided into 3 equal sections. The distance from 0% to the dot is equal to 2 of those sections. 2 out of 3 pieces is the same as $66 \frac{2}{3}$ out of 100 pieces. So, the number line represents $66 \frac{2}{3} %$ .

A percent can be written as a fraction with 100 in the denominator.

Start by writing 75% as a fraction with 75 in the numerator and 100 in the denominator.

75 % = \frac{75}{100}

Then, simplify the fraction.

\frac{75}{100} = \frac{3}{4}

To convert a fraction to a percent, first convert the fraction to a decimal.

Then, convert the decimal to a percent by
multiplying by 100 and adding the percent sign.

First, convert

\frac{6}{10}

to a decimal by dividing the numerator by the denominator.

6 ÷ 10 = 0.6
