- Reflexive Pronouns
- Reflexive pronouns refer back to the subject of a sentence. Singular reflexive pronouns end in "-self." Plural reflexive pronouns end in "-selves."
These are the reflexive pronouns: myself, yourself, ourselves, himself, herself, itself, yourselves, and themselves.
These are some examples of reflexive pronouns:
I braided my hair by myself.
Reflexive pronoun “myself” refers back to the subject “I.”
The students took care of the class pet themselves.
Reflexive pronoun “themselves” refers back to the subject “the students.”
Nicholas painted the fireplace himself.
Reflexive pronoun “himself” refers back to the subject “Nicholas.”
