- Adjective
- An adjective is a word that describes a noun.
Example: That rose is pretty.
In this sentence, the adjective “pretty” describes the rose.
- Adverb
- An adverb is a word that describes a verb, or an action. Many adverbs end with an -ly. Adverbs tell when, how, or where an action took place.
Example: Paul ran slowly toward the goal.
In this sentence, the adverb “slowly” describes how Paul ran.
