- There are certain words that must always begin with capital letters.
Proper nouns are nouns that name specific persons, places, things, or ideas. Proper nouns always begin with capital letters.
Examples: Aunt Nakia, Langley Library, Oak Street
The months of the year and days of the week always begin with capital letters.
Examples: December, Monday, Wednesday, and June
All the words in the salutation, or greeting, of a letter always begin with capital letters.
Examples: Dear Friend, Dear Mom, or Dear Grandma Judy
Only the first word in the closing of a letter should be capitalized. All the other words should be lowercase.
Examples: Your friend, Sincerely, or All the best
