There are different types of sentences. They are used for different reasons and end with different kinds of punctuation. Two types of sentences are declarative sentences and interrogative sentences.
- Declarative sentence
- A declarative sentence is a sentence that is used to tell a fact or express an opinion. Declarative sentences are also known as statements. They always end with a period.
The squirrel ran up the tree.
The sky looks pretty today.
My shirt smells like grass.
- Interrogative sentence
- An interrogative sentence is used to ask a question. Questions are used to get more information about a topic. Interrogative sentences always end with a question mark.
Has the dog been fed?
Who is at the front door?
What is inside the box?
