Conjunctive adverbs are words or phrases that modify verbs while making meaningful connections and transitions between clauses in sentences and between related sentences and paragraphs in writing.
Conjunctive adverbs show a relationship between ideas. They may add information, show cause and effect, compare or contrast, emphasize a point, indicate a change in topic, show time or sequence, or introduce new ideas or elaborating information.
