Persuasive Texts
Persuasive texts are used to convince readers to do or support something. Advertisements are a common example of persuasive text.
Elements of Persuasive Texts
In persuasive text, a claim refers to what the author is trying to persuade readers to believe, support, or do.
Authors will also use facts and opinions to help support their claims. Facts refer to information that can be proven true. Opinions refer to something that a person thinks or feels.

The Best Pet
There are many different animals that people keep as pets. These include dogs, cats, birds, and even lizards. However, the best pet to have is a cat. Cats are wonderful creatures that can easily brighten anyone's day. There are many reasons why cats are better pets than other animals.
First, cats are very nice to pet. Most cats have soft fur, and stroking down their backs feels good. Cats also enjoy being petted and will start purring happily. Petting a cat is a calm activity.
Finally, it is less work to take care of a cat. An animal like a dog requires a lot of time and attention. Dogs have to be walked every day and have a lot of energy. Cats also like to play and be active, but don't need as much play time as dogs. Cats can spend the day sleeping.
A cat is the best pet that a person can have. Cats have soft fur, live long lives, and are easy to care for. Having a cat is a very enjoyable and rewarding experience.
