A conclusion is a sentence or paragraph that is the final part of a text. It ends, or concludes, the passage.
Here is some important information about introductions and conclusions.
Introduction:
Tells what the passage is going to be about
Says something exciting about the topic
Gets the reader interested in the topic
Shows the main idea
Conclusion:
Wraps up the passage
Tells about the main idea again, in a few words
Uses words that show the passage is ending (finally, in conclusion)
Ties together the beginning of the passage to the end
Guide Words
Guide words are printed words at the top of a page. They help the reader anticipate what the text is about. The guide words are often in bold to be easily seen.
Example: Dictionaries have guide words on top of the page that show, alphabetically, the first and last words on a page.
