Common nouns name general people, places, things, animals, or ideas. Some common nouns are mouse, mall, teachers, and art.
Proper nouns name specific people, places, things, or ideas. Proper nouns always begin with capital letters, no matter where they are in a sentence. Some proper nouns are Jerry, Florida, Mrs. Smith, and Germany.
Nouns can be singular or plural. Singular means one, while plural means more than one.
